The right curb chain makes a meaningful difference in how a double bridle works — and this one is worth doing properly.
The Sprenger Aurigan Curb Chain finished in the stunning gold hue is designed specifically to complement Sprenger Weymouth bits, matching the warm golden Aurigan alloy of the bit itself for a coordinated, purposeful setup. More than aesthetics, Aurigan is a patented copper, silicon and zinc alloy developed by Sprenger and toxicologically tested by the University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover — it actively encourages salivation and chewing activity in the horse, with a positive effect on comfort, concentration and willingness to perform.
The 28-link design allows for finer, more precise adjustment increments than a 24-link chain, giving you the ability to dial in curb pressure with greater accuracy. Stainless steel rings and cheeks provide durability at the contact points while the Aurigan links deliver the softness where it counts — against the horse's chin groove.
Correctly fitted, a curb chain should lie flat in the chin groove and engage only when the shank reaches approximately 45 degrees. Too tight and it acts before the bit has had a chance to work. Too loose and it offers no support at all. The 28-link adjustment means you're far less likely to end up between sizes.
Approved for FEI competition use including Dressage Classes.
Made in Germany.
Suits: Sprenger Weymouth bits and double bridle setups where the bit is Aurigan or Sensogan gold in colour. Also suits any rider wanting a finer degree of curb chain adjustment than a standard 24-link chain provides.

Hi
My pure Arab mare is going well in her new bit. The only thing I really dislike is the huge rings on it, If I'd know they were this big I would not have purchased this bit, Looks ridiculous.
Regards
Sally
Hi Sally Thankyou for your review! They do make smaller 55mm rings in a loose ring version of this bit if that helps :)
